Indianapolis, IN – Caitlin Clark, the star guard for the Indiana Fever and reigning Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year, has officially withdrawn from the 2025 WNBA All-Star Events due to a right groin injury. The highly anticipated All-Star Game is set to take place on Saturday, July 19, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, starting at 8:30 p.m. ET. Clark’s absence comes as a significant blow to the Fever, who currently have a 12-11 record and sit in sixth place in the league standings.

The All-Stars comprising both starters and reserves were announced in early July, with Clark and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier serving as team captains. Following Clark’s withdrawal, Brittney Sykes from the Washington Mystics and Brionna Jones from the Atlanta Dream will step in as replacements for Clark and Phoenix Mercury forward Satou Sabally.

This year’s All-Star festivities will also feature the Kia WNBA Skills Challenge and the WNBA STARRY® 3-Point Contest on Friday, July 18. This event will air live on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET. Participants in the Skills Challenge include Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream), Natasha Cloud (New York Liberty), Skylar Diggins (Seattle Storm), Erica Wheeler (Seattle Storm), and Courtney Williams (Minnesota Lynx). The 3-Point Contest, which Clark was originally slated to be a part of, includes Gray, Sabrina Ionescu (New York Liberty), Kelsey Plum (Los Angeles Sparks), and Sonya Citron (Washington Mystics).

Although Clark has been a standout player, she has faced a difficult season marred by injuries. Prior to this season, she had never missed a game, starting 181 consecutive games throughout her collegiate and professional career. This year, however, Clark has suffered four non-contact injuries that have caused her to miss 11 games, including a previous left quad injury and another left groin issue. Her average statistics for the 2025 season include 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds over 13 games.

The Indiana Fever’s performance without Clark marks a mixed outcome, managing a record of 4-6 in her absence this season. Clark’s leadership and scoring ability are particularly missed, as the team navigates through the competitive landscape of the WNBA.

In addition to the on-court events, fans will be able to engage in WNBA Live presented by Panini, a two-day interactive festival celebrating fashion, music, and culture, occurring at the Indiana Convention Center on July 18 and 19. Fans can also witness players walking the orange carpet at All-Star Weekend, showcasing their personal styles. The All-Star Game will be held in a draft format, allowing captains Clark and Collier to select their squads from the list of selected players.

The Kia WNBA Skills Challenge will feature a course designed to test various basketball skills, including a unique obstacle that utilizes a 2025 Kia Sorento Hybrid. This innovative approach highlights the integration of sports and entertainment at the annual WNBA All-Star events.

Tickets for the All-Star Game and associated events, including WNBA Live, are available for purchase through Ticketmaster. Fans can enjoy extensive coverage of the All-Star Game and surrounding events across multiple platforms, including ABC, Disney+, and ESPN+.
