Wickliffe, OH – The Wickliffe community is in mourning following the peaceful passing of E. Patricia Mulroy (nee Cleary), who died on October 9, 2025, at the age of 92. Surrounded by family and enjoying her favorite showtunes, Pat’s departure leaves a significant void in the hearts of those who knew her.

Pat is survived by her four children: Eileen Gazzuolo, Michael (Jodee) Mulroy, Terry (Carrie) Mulroy, and Maureen (John) Zelina. She was also a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren: Michelle (Allan) Boyd, Dominic (Jennifer) Gazzuolo, Katie (Derek) Nelson, Susan (Eduardo) Rios, Steven Zelina, John (Taylor) Zelina, Tim Zelina, Madelyn Mulroy, and Michael Mulroy. In addition, Pat cherished her nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a large circle of friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim, and her son, Jimmy.

Described as a vibrant presence, Pat was a spark in the lives of many around her. She had a profound love for her family, her church, her colleagues in speech therapy, her card club, and her Irish heritage. She found joy in family pets, travel, movies, and spending quality time with those she loved.

Early Life and Education

Born on July 14, 1933, in Cleveland, Pat grew up on the west side and attended John Marshall High School. After graduating, she furthered her education at Ohio University, where she majored in speech therapy. Her passion for cinema and theater was instilled in her children and grandchildren, becoming a family legacy.

Marriage and Family

Pat met her husband, Jim Mulroy, at a friend’s wedding shortly after graduation. They married on November 24, 1956, settling in Euclid before making Wickliffe their home in 1958. Throughout her life, Pat was devoted to raising her five children while actively participating in various civic, community, and religious activities.

Career and Community Involvement

Professionally, Pat worked as a teacher at Wickliffe Playschool and later as a speech and hearing therapist in the Willoughby-Eastlake School District. She provided therapy services at several elementary schools, including Edison, Cricket Lane, and Garfield.

A dedicated member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for over 60 years, Pat engaged in numerous volunteer activities. She was a founding member of the church’s credit union and was active in the Altar & Rosary Guild, Christ Child Society, and Christmas choir. Additionally, Pat contributed to OLMC’s variety shows and helped to establish the Mt. Carmel Players in 1970, serving on its first board.

Personal Interests and Legacy

Known for her love of dancing, Pat would often participate in musical performances due to her petite stature. In retirement, she volunteered for hearing screening days at various schools and was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns, frequently hosting game-watching parties filled with refreshments.

Pat and Jim enjoyed a life filled with travel, exploring the United States and Ireland, taking cruises, and visiting their grandchildren on the West Coast, as well as spending winters in Myrtle Beach.

Final Arrangements

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 14 at 11 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Wickliffe. Following the Mass, burial will be private. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home on October 13 from 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Christ Child Society of the Western Reserve or a charity of choice.
