Effective for the upcoming season, the league will launch a new service featuring a lineup of live games, coverage of the WNBA, and international leagues. The NBA App will transform into a global hub for basketball fans, offering 24/7 content access, documentaries, and original programming, enhancing the fan experience and engagement.

New York City – The NBA has announced it will regain operational control of NBA TV and its streaming services following 17 years under the management of Turner Sports and Warner Bros. Discovery. This transfer of control, effective for the 2025-26 season, comes after the league’s new television deals left WBD largely out of the picture.

Beginning on October 15, 2025, the league will unveil a fresh lineup of live games and basketball programming on its own platform, with the first regular season game set for October 25, 2025, featuring a matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Atlanta Hawks. NBA TV will broadcast a total of 60 regular season games throughout the season.

In addition to NBA games, the revamped NBA TV will also include coverage from the WNBA, the NBA G League, and international leagues such as Australia’s National Basketball League and France’s Ligue Nationale de Basket. The league aims to broaden its programming reach and engage a wider audience.

The centerpiece of the new NBA TV will be a flagship show titled “The Association.” This program will showcase a variety of hosts and contributors, including MJ Acosta-Ruiz, David Fizdale, Rudy Gay, Chris Haynes, and John Wall, and will replace the previous “NBA Gametime Live.” Highlights will include exclusive interviews, in-depth analyses, and a comprehensive look at the sport.

The NBA App is set to transform into a “connected, global hub” for basketball fans, offering 24/7 access to various basketball-related content. It will feature live games, original programming, and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the sport. Additional features will include basketball podcasts and creator content focused on sports, enhancing the app’s offering for users.

The upcoming programming slate will also showcase documentaries such as “Real Training Camp” and “Loud City,” which will follow and document the Oklahoma City Thunder’s pursuit of a championship title. This is part of the organization’s strategy to offer engaging and diverse content that resonates with its audience.

Moreover, NBA TV plans to schedule three triple-header game days during the season, with notable matchups slated for December 20 and New Year’s Eve. These days promise to deliver a thrilling viewing experience for basketball enthusiasts as they gather to watch multiple games throughout the day.

The decision by the NBA to reclaim control of its broadcasting and streaming services follows a significant shift in the media landscape. In June, Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed it would stop producing content for NBA TV due to new media rights agreements with major companies such as Amazon, Disney, and NBCUniversal. However, WBD has reached a settlement that permits it to retain a global license for creating and distributing basketball-related content across its various platforms.

The NBA’s move to launch a new app and revamped NBA TV reflects its commitment to simplifying content discovery and ensuring it remains the primary destination for basketball fans around the world. This transition is anticipated to enhance the viewing experience by offering seamless digital access to an array of basketball content and live events, positioning the league for continued growth.
