Grace Ann Laurio, aged 77, passed away on October 19, 2025, at the Seidman Cancer Center. Grace was born on March 3, 1948, in Cleveland, to the late Frank and Angie Modica. She was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Indians, now known as the Guardians, and had a passion for Broadway shows, bowling with friends, traveling, and cherishing moments with her grandchildren. Grace recently fulfilled a lifelong dream by visiting Italy with her family. She is survived by her husband Michael Laurio, her children Michelle (Randall) Roark and Stephen (Stacey) Laurio, and her grandchildren Jackson and Alexa Roark. Grace was also the sister of William (Donna) Modica and Barbara Modica, and she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Samuel Laurio.
A visitation for Grace will take place on November 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Mentor, Ohio. A memorial mass will follow at 8:00 PM. A private family burial will be held at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
Paul Phillip Fine, aged 95, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and community engagement. He was born to Molly and Phillip Fine and enjoyed an active life beyond his 95th birthday, keeping fit by working out four days a week and volunteering. An avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast, Paul was known for his humor and kindness. He also shared a deep love for gardening and was a long-time season ticket holder for the Cleveland Indians, having the honor of throwing out the first pitch during a game on his 88th birthday. Paul served in the Navy and was a member of the Forest City Masonic Lodge. Professionally, he worked in the produce field, owned Nela Farms, and later transitioned to a sales career at Ohio State Waterproofing.
Paul is survived by his children Michelle (Bob) Reiner, Michael Fine, Marty (Cathy Brooks-Fine) Fine, and Richard (Sabina) Fine, along with ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His first wife, Harriet, passed away in 1998, and he later married Maxine Cowan, who has also predeceased him. Services for Paul will be held at Mount Olive Cemetery on June 4 at 2:00 PM, followed by a gathering at the Winking Lizard Party Center until 8 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the Friendship Circle of Cleveland or a charity of choice.
The community will remember both Grace and Paul for their positive impacts on the lives of those around them. Their dedication and love for family, friends, and their respective passions remain a source of inspiration for all who knew them.
