Barry Bagels is opening a new location in Ohio City as part of its expansion in Northeast Ohio. Set to open in November 2025, the 876-square-foot outlet will cater to the local community, near Catholic schools. With a rich menu and plans for future franchise growth, Barry Bagels aims to enhance its presence in the area.

Ohio City is set to welcome a new Barry Bagels location, the company’s fourth in Northeast Ohio, as part of its ongoing expansion efforts. The latest outlet is scheduled to open in November 2025 at 2547 Lorain Ave. in Ohio City, in an 876-square-foot space designed to cater to the local community.

Jenny Carter, the managing partner of Barry Bagels Cleveland and a franchisee, highlighted the company’s deep roots in the region. With over 20 years of experience living in Northeast Ohio and a personal connection to the brand, Carter is excited about the new location’s potential. The establishment is strategically located near Catholic schools, including St. Ignatius, which is expected to generate significant foot traffic.

The first Barry Bagels location in Northeast Ohio opened its doors in 2016 at 2100 Center Road in Avon, operating on a larger scale with a 3,400-square-foot “hub and spokes” model that includes a baking facility. A new Westlake location has recently started operations in fall 2024 at 24513 Center Ridge Road, featuring a 1,000-square-foot venue. Additionally, the 1,200-square-foot Lakewood location at 14871 Detroit Ave. commenced service in July 2025, and it functions as a baking hub that will supply inventory to the upcoming Ohio City establishment. The Avon location will supply inventory to Westlake.

Barry Bagels boasts an enticing menu that includes 16 different bagel options, alongside homemade salads and in-house sliced meats and cheeses, such as pastrami and turkey. As part of its growth strategy, the franchise intends to increase its presence not only in Cleveland but also aims to expand into areas with a substantial Jewish population on the East Side.

The company is actively searching for retail spaces ranging from 800 to 1,500 square feet located in high-traffic areas. They are collaborating with Cushman & Wakefield | CRESCO Real Estate to identify suitable locations for future expansion. Plans do not only encompass Ohio; Barry Bagels has recently received a development agreement for 20 new locations in Iowa, contributing to a nationwide total of 104 stores in various stages of development across multiple states.

The investment required to open a single startup franchise location ranges from $99,000 to $514,000, with an initial franchise fee set between $20,000 and $25,000. Interested individuals can inquire about franchise opportunities through the Barry Bagels website.

Barry Bagels aims to establish a brand-centric presence in the Cleveland region, enhancing its retail, wholesale, and catering activities as part of its expansion plan. With the newly opened locations and more on the horizon, the brand is looking to build a sustainable and community-focused business model in Northeast Ohio.
