Hendricks, a respected horticulturist and beloved family matriarch, who passed away on September 4, 2025, at the age of 82. Nancy died at Select Specialty Hospital Fairhill in Cleveland after a full and vibrant life dedicated to her family and the horticultural community.
Nancy Hendricks was born on May 26, 1943, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to Arthur Halliday and Irene (Beham) Halliday. She spent over 38 years as the corporate secretary and office manager at Klyn Nursery in Perry, where she began her leadership role in 1987 alongside her husband, William (Bill) Hendricks. Under their guidance, Klyn Nursery became a cherished establishment in the horticulture field, earning respect and admiration from peers.
Throughout her life, Nancy was deeply committed to her faith, being an active member of St. Mary Church in Painesville. She contributed her time to the St. Vincent DePaul Ministry at her church, reflecting her caring nature and dedication to serving others in the community.
Nancy’s passion for plants extended beyond her professional life; she was also an avid traveler. She and her husband enjoyed exploring the world together, with several memorable trips to China and South Africa. Nancy had a particular interest in tracing her ancestral heritage, exploring the landscapes of Scotland and Ireland, as well as traveling across Europe with Dutch and English plantsmen. Cabo, a yearly destination for the couple, was one of Nancy’s favorite places, appreciated for its beauty and tranquility.
In addition to her professional and travel achievements, Nancy was known for her impeccable style and keen eye for fashion. Her ability to choose meaningful gifts for her family and friends made her an exceptional gift-giver, contributing to her personal connections with loved ones.
Nancy’s legacy continues through her family. She is survived by her husband, Bill Hendricks, and three children: George Couch, Brian (Michelle) Hendricks, and Kim Davis (Chris Pazemis). Additionally, she is survived by her brother, David (Ann) Halliday, and her four grandchildren: Leah Davis (Michael McClure), Ember Pazemis, Alex Couch, and Cameron Couch. Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, John Halliday, and her parents.
Friends and community members wishing to pay their respects can attend a visitation scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home located at 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. An additional visitation will take place on Friday, September 12, from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on the same day at St. Mary Catholic Church, located at 242 North State Street, Painesville. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
For those unable to attend the service in person, the Mass will be live-streamed, with access information available on the church’s website. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Ministry at St. Mary Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville, Ohio 44077.
