Solon, OH – Dorothy L. Green, an esteemed pharmacist and devoted family member, passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on June 29, 2024. Her legacy is marked by her remarkable contributions to the field of pharmacy and her unwavering dedication to her family.

Born to Milton and Lily (Lasher) Hyman, who have since passed, Dorothy was a cornerstone of her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel Green. Dorothy is survived by her three children: Marcy (Moisey) Shostak of Snohomish, WA, Michael (Carrie Hakola) Green of Woodinville, WA, and Julie (Mark) Spadaro of Solon, OH. She is also cherished by her grandchildren, including Becca (Alexander Oca) and Josh Shostak, Alexa and Jamie Hayes, and Jack and Henry Green.

In addition to her immediate family, Dorothy is remembered as a caring sister to Judith (deceased) Dr. Bruce Wolf and Carole Mason (Philip, deceased), as well as a dear cousin and aunt to many.

Dorothy graduated from Shaker Heights High School and earned her degree from The University of Toledo. She had a long and successful career as a retail pharmacist, a profession that historically had few women representatives. Throughout her career, Dorothy worked for several drug stores, including Fame, Key and Gray Drug Stores, and Kaiser Permanente, where she continued to contribute until her 70s.

Dorothy and Daniel raised their family on Linnell Road in South Euclid, where they created a loving home. Known for their adventurous spirit, the couple traveled frequently, enjoying visits with family in Seattle and spending winters in Del Rey Beach, Florida.

In her memory, the family requests that contributions be made to the NCJW/Cleveland, Daniel N. Green Literacy Fund, located at 26055 Emery Road Suite L, Warrensville Heights, OH 44128, as well as to the University Hospitals Brain Health & Memory Center Fund, P.O. Box 94554, Cleveland, OH 44101-4554.

A graveside service commemorating Dorothy L. Green will take place on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Mount Olive Cemetery, situated at 27855 Aurora Road, Solon, OH 44139. Following the interment, family and friends are invited to gather at Elle Restaurant, located at 33730 Bainbridge Road in Solon, until 5:30 p.m.
