FC Dallas has officially acquired goalkeeper Jacob Jackson from San Diego FC in exchange for a natural third-round pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft. The acquisition was announced on July 30, 2025, solidifying Dallas’s roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Jacob Jackson, 25 years old, was born on April 25, 2000, in San Diego, California. He started the 2025 season with San Diego FC after being selected in Stage 1 of the 2024 MLS Re-Entry Draft. During his time with San Diego, Jackson made three regular-season appearances and also played in one U.S. Open Cup match for the San Jose Earthquakes prior to joining San Diego.
The goalkeeper was initially drafted 24th overall by the New England Revolution in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft. Prior to his current move, Jackson primarily played in MLS NEXT Pro, featuring for New England Revolution II and The Town FC, where he garnered significant playing experience. Over the course of his professional career, he has accumulated over 3,000 minutes on the field and recorded nine clean sheets.
Jackson’s prowess as a goalkeeper was highlighted when he was named the MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month in May 2022, a month in which he achieved five consecutive shutouts. His performance at the collegiate level was equally impressive; while playing at Loyola Marymount University, he was awarded the West Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year twice, setting multiple program records along the way. Notably, he set a record for the most consecutive scoreless minutes in a season, tallying 560 minutes, and finished with a collegiate record of 26 wins, 8 losses, and 8 draws.
Jackson stands at 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds, and his athleticism and skill have made him a notable addition to FC Dallas. Fans and analysts alike will be eager to see how he contributes to the team’s success as FC Dallas continues to build a competitive squad ahead of the MLS fixtures.
The decision to bring Jacob Jackson to Dallas marks a strategic move for the club as they prepare for their future goals. With his previous experience and accolades, Jackson is expected to bolster the team’s defensive capabilities as they aim for a successful run in the league.
As the new season approaches, FC Dallas fans can look forward to seeing Jacob Jackson’s contributions on the field, as he seeks to establish himself as a key player within the club’s ongoing campaign in Major League Soccer.
