Parks and Facilities

The City of Cleveland’s Parks and Recreation Department manages an extensive network of green spaces and recreational resources, offering something for everyone. The city oversees 155 parks, 23 recreation centers, a public golf course, 40 pools and spray pads, 111 baseball fields, 88 basketball courts, and 70 tennis courts. Their goal is equitable access, ensuring 88% of residents live within a 10-minute walk of a park. A master plan, recently adopted, aims to guide improvements citywide.

Additionally, the Cleveland Metroparks system—affectionately called the Emerald Necklace—spans 25,000+ acres across 18 reservations encircling the metro area. It includes hundreds of miles of trails, nature centers, golf courses, picnic spots, fishing and boating areas, and the Zoo. Metroparks sees over 18 million visits annually, offering year‑round outdoor enjoyment.
