Collaboration among real estate professionals in a modern office setting
In a significant move for the Dallas real estate market, the MetroTex Association of Realtors and Collin County Area Realtors have merged, creating the largest local realtor organization in North Texas with nearly 40,000 members. This merger aims to enhance advocacy efforts and streamline operational processes for members while offering better resources and professional development opportunities. Meanwhile, the Florida Gulf Coast MLS has upgraded its technology to improve service delivery, aligning with a broader trend in the industry towards consolidation and modernization.
The MetroTex Association of Realtors and Collin County Area Realtors (CCAR) have officially voted to merge, creating a combined organization with nearly 40,000 members. This union positions the new entity as the largest local real estate association in North Texas and ranks it as the fourth-largest in the United States, surpassing the Long Island Board of Realtors.
The merger was publicly announced this week, following a vote by members of both associations. The new organization will operate under the MetroTex name, consolidating resources and membership. The headquarters of CCAR, located in Plano, will remain open, with no staff reductions planned as part of the transition. The leadership structure will see Justin Landon, who joined as CEO in early 2024 after leading Bluegrass Realtors in Kentucky, take the helm of the combined association.
The merger aims to enhance advocacy efforts for real estate professionals, streamline operational processes, and broaden opportunities for professional development. Members are expected to experience cost savings through efficiencies, particularly those who previously subscribed to both associations separately.
Johnny Mowad, president of MetroTex, highlighted that this step is more than a mere alliance; it is a strategic move to strengthen the collective voice of real estate professionals in the region.
In addition to the merger news, the Florida Gulf Coast Multiple Listing Service (FGC MLS) announced the launch of its enhanced Matrix system and autonomous MLS database for its 9,500 subscribers. This significant technology upgrade has been under development for nearly a year and was carried out in partnership with a tech provider, Cotality.
The new system maintains a familiar user experience at no extra cost to members, while incorporating several custom features and expanding data sharing capabilities. It is designed to support quick deployment of future improvements and provide flexible, white-labeled solutions for other MLS organizations seeking to enhance their services.
Sean O’Brien, CEO of FGC MLS, emphasized that the upgrade underscores a focus on increasing control, agility, and growth opportunities for the MLS. Meanwhile, Jason Jakus, director of technology and MLS at FGC MLS, indicated that these enhancements represent a major step forward in scalability and quality of service delivery.
The merger of MetroTex and CCAR reflects ongoing efforts in the real estate sector to consolidate resources and expand influence in regional and national markets. Similarly, the technological advancements by FGC MLS demonstrate the industry’s focus on leveraging innovative solutions to improve user experience and data integration across multiple platforms.
Both developments indicate strategic moves by regional associations and MLS providers to strengthen their operational capabilities and better serve their members amidst a competitive and rapidly evolving marketplace.
