Sanford had two siblings, Lenny Evenchik and Edie Schneider. He was also mourned by his Aunt Sheila Evenchik and extended family, highlighting the impact he had in their lives.

Born in Lorain, Ohio, in 1949 to Bill and Bleema Evenchik, Sanford grew up in a close-knit and loving family. He attended Lorain High School, where he became an accomplished drummer, contributing to both the marching band and local rock ’n’ roll bands. After high school, he attended the University of Michigan, where he earned a degree in industrial engineering. It was there that he met Karen, who would become his devoted wife.
After their marriage, the couple initially returned to Lorain before settling in Cleveland. Sanford later earned an MBA from John Carroll University, further advancing his career.
Professional Life and Family Dedication
Professionally, Sanford worked as an industrial engineer for various companies, showcasing his expertise and dedication to his field. However, his greatest pride was his family. He was known for never missing a performance, event, or milestone, often capturing countless family memories on video. Sanford’s love for music remained strong throughout his life as he played both piano and drums, sharing his passion and skill with his children and grandchildren.
Sandy was an active member of the Shul Boy Motorcycle Club, embracing his love for adventure and community. Funeral services for Sanford N. Evenchik will be held on Monday, September 22, at 10:00 am at Berkowitz – Kumin – Bookatz Memorial Chapels, located at 1985 South Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Following the service, interment will take place at Mount Olive Cemetery, located at 27855 Aurora Road, Solon, Ohio. Shiva will be observed at 2526 Lafayette Drive, University Heights, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cleveland Jewish News Foundation. The arrangements have been entrusted to the Directors of Berkowitz – Kumin – Bookatz Memorial Chapel.
